Local Author Celebrates Publication of "Frankie’s First Halloween" with Support from Cal Poly Humboldt Press

Local school teacher Tony Pitré has turned a cherished childhood drawing by his grandson, Odin, into a published children’s book, "Frankie’s First Halloween," released by The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt.

The 10th annual Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Celebration celebrates students, staff, faculty, emeriti, and alumni published in the 2023 calendar year. Join us for interesting discussions, trivia, and cake! There will also be a series of publishing events throughout the week, including a self publishing workshop (Tuesday) and the book release event for The Gray Bird Sings: The Extraordinary Life of Betty Kwan Chinn. (Thursday).

This 252 page account of the life of Betty Chinn follows her early years escaping China during the Cultural Revolution, and the atrocities she endured there, and follows her journey in her to her new home of Eureka California.
